Why are there so many stock photos of people kissing while wearing face masks?
So, you're facing a global pandemic and deep in the midst of the Democratic presidential primaries. The concert you bought tickets for months ago got canceled, you’re worried about your parents, trying to ration your toilet paper supply, running short on almond milk, and, it seems, there is no hope.
Or maybe you’re feeling frisky in this new, socially-distant world? Fret not, you are not alone! Stock photographers are in the same (alas, distant) boat with you. Virus or not, we are all human and we’re thirsty AF. We yearn for touch, a gentle stroke on the back, a soft caress, someone's lips ... protected by a medical mask?
Jokes aside, with the U.S. now leading the world in coronavirus cases and an ever-increasing death toll, life has gotten very dark. So much so that New York City's government issued it’s sexiest guide to dating, stating (in bold) that youare your safest sex partner.
No, you shouldn't ignore social distancing guidelines just because you're wearing a mask and gloves but, yes, it’s safe to look.
We have no idea why there are so many of this very weird genre of stock photo in the world and it's also unclear if these images were added to stock photo collections before or after the pandemic took over all our lives. But, given the seriousness of the virus outbreak, and the stress, loneliness, joblessness, shortage of medical equipment, and general catastrophe it has brought along with it, we all need a laugh.
Not to mention a little romance. And if you need more than just awkward photos of love in the time of coronavirus, we got you and you and all of you.

Please do NOT do this, if you are sick. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

But DO care for, love, and support others. Stay safe and be smart. Remember to wash your hands. We heart you!
