Chinese manufactuer JAC Motor is looking for quality engineers to increase its headcount for quality control from 100 to 300 as part of a goal to launch its first joint electric vehicle model with Huawei in the first quarter of 2025. According to sources cited by financial media outlet CLS, the state-owned carmaker expects the incoming quality assurance specialists and inspectors to have at least eight years of experience in luxury vehicle production, ideally from Chinese joint ventures with international carmakers.
JAC and Huawei are working on a luxury multi-purpose vehicle with an estimated price tag of around RMB 1 million ($140,000), TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said on X back in August, 2023. This was followed by the release of an environmental filing in March saying a new plant owned by JAC is scheduled for completion in 2025 in the eastern Chinese city of Hefei, giving them an annual capacity of 35,000 units for the van, as TechNode reported previously. JAC chair Xiang Xingchu confirmed the plan in his speech at this year’s China Auto Forum in Shanghai in July, adding that the new plant was almost completed and that capacity will eventually be expanded to 200,000 units per year, as more models are being planned.
